Including in the distribution of various social assistance from the government to citizens in need and to be right on target. President Jokowi also instructed that the implementation of this year's population census run successfully and smoothly.
Meanwhile, Indonesian Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian also said that until now, about one percent of population data of citizens in the archipelago has not yet entered the database, and 99 percent of it is still in the update stage. This population census is very important and needed for development planning, such as what development strategies are for the welfare of the community.
"Thus, development can really run significantly and development evaluation can be carried out optimally. In this case, regional heads have strong data, including the speed and accuracy of the budget, to the distribution of social assistance. We greatly appreciate the population census program implemented by BPS, and in the implementation of the census, strict health protocols should still be implemented," he added.
Separately, the Governor of East Java, Khofifah Indar Parawansa said that the population in East Java is around 40,9 million and that those who have been censused offline are around 6 million, while the 34,12 million will be completed soon. "Verification and validation of population data is very important so that the distribution of social assistance is right on target. Likewise for the distribution of other subsidies from the government, such as electricity, health and education," he explained.
The woman in hijab added that East Java has now entered the demographic bonus era and the database will be the gateway to data validity. Therefore, all East Java residents should be able to provide good data when a census officer comes to their home," Khofifah appealed.
Likewise, the Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji, who attended the online Population Census Kick Off event at the Ngalam Command Center Room, said that population data is important and how to obtain the data is also very important. The bespectacled man also appealed to census officers to work well so that valid data is obtained.
Since February to May, an online population census has been conducted. During September, officers will validate and/or conduct a conventional census. "In addition to officers working well, all Malang City residents should also be cooperative and provide accurate data," he explained.
This population census is also a recommendation from the UN, where every country should conduct a population census at least once every ten years. "The data obtained from this population census is very useful and beneficial for the government and society.
