Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa symbolically handed over the Merdeka Belajar Internet Starter Card assistance to 1,3 million high school, vocational school and special needs school students throughout East Java in the hall of the East Java Provincial Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDM) Building on Jalan Kawi No. 41, Malang City, Monday (07/09/2020). In this initial stage, each student received a data quota assistance of 10GB.

If the quota on the special edition card has run out, then students who top up their credit by Rp5 thousand will automatically get a quota of 11 GB. This program is also synergized with that initiated by the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture which will also provide data quota assistance of 35GB. From these various assistance, the student learning process which is currently carried out online is guaranteed not to run out of internet quota.
Regarding the program, Governor Khofifah said, of the 1,3 million Telkomsel internet cards distributed, until today there have been around 1,1 million that have been received by students. This woman in a hijab also appealed to students to use the data quota assistance according to its intended purpose, namely for the online learning process during the pandemic.
Meanwhile, for areas that are rather difficult to get a signal, he said, from Telkomsel, cellular operators have always agreed and will soon build a signal receiving communication device or mini BTS. "Until now, there are still at least 62 areas in East Java that are still constrained by signals. With the presence of the mini BTS, in the near future the areas that are constrained by signals will be resolved properly," he said.
In addition, the East Java Provincial Government also plans to provide assistance in the form of smartphones or laptops for students in need. This is because, during online learning, many students still use their parents' or siblings' cellphones alternately. "The distribution of this assistance will refer to the priority scale and will be strictly selected so that it is right on target," concluded Khofifah. (say/yon)
