Lowokwaru (malangkota.go.id) – The presence of food ordering applications makes it easier for parents to not have to bother providing food for their children. Fast food that is ordered is indeed able to fill you up instantly, but it is low in nutritional value.
Instead of filling the stomach, it actually causes various diseases suffered by the baby. One of them is picky eater, namely eating behavior disorders in children that are related to their psychological development and growth.
“Usually the condition picky eater caused by the lack of variety in children's food. And, marked by the child's reluctance to try new types of food," said Abdi Malik Rahardjo, a student of the UMM Faculty of Medicine expressing his concerns, Monday (07/09/2020).
With this background, Malik and his fellow faculty member Ersalita Rahmadhani Pratiwi initiated an alternative food ordering Android application called NutriChild-Go!. This application provides a list of nutritious food menus that parents can order for their children.
This application, continued Malik, is integrated with health facilities that are connected to health workers such as doctors, nutritionists, and other health workers. So, through the counseling menu, parents get knowledge of new nutritious food menus every day, ordering nutritious food according to nutritional status, knowledge of how to cook healthily through proper cooking guidance, and getting knowledge of how to feed their children properly.
Not only as a food ordering application, but also has the value of knowledge and skills through guidance and monitoring available on several menus. "So that the hope is that it can be a solution in completing picky eater in children by increasing knowledge for parents by providing information, guidance, and monitoring regarding the pattern of nutritious food consumption in their children," said this 2017 student from Sidoarjo.
Thanks to this idea, the idea of an Android-based application expressed through this essay work managed to win Second Place in the 2020 National Essay Nutrition Competition. The competition, which was organized by the Nutrition Science Student Association of Nahdlatul Ulama University of Surabaya, was held online on September 1, 2020. This competition was attended by 40 participants from various universities in Indonesia such as Gadjah Mada University, University of Indonesia, Brawijaya University, and others.
"Application NutriChild-Go! is the most appropriate solution in providing knowledge, guidance, and monitoring for parents in the current New Habit Adaptation era, through the menus provided by the NutriChild-Go! application. With this application in intervening in risk factors picky eater, the hope is that there will be a decrease in prevalence (number of sufferers_ed) picky eater in children in Indonesia," concluded the student who is active in the Scientific Medico activity unit.
