Malang (malangkota.go.id) – The Indonesian Air Force Operations Command II (Koopsau II) held the Sikatan Daya 2020 war exercise as an effort to measure, improve and evaluate the capabilities of soldiers. In this context, it is also related to war strategies and readiness of defense equipment (main defense system equipment) at the air base under Koopsau II.

The 2020 Sikatan Daya war exercise was held from 28-30 September at Abdulrachman Saleh Air Force Base in Malang, Iswahjudi Air Force Base in Madiun, Mulyono Air Force Base in Surabaya and in Air Weapon Range (AWR) in Lumajang. A total of 706 TNI AU soldiers and 39 TNI AU mainstay fighter aircraft were deployed, such as F-16, Sukoi, Super Tucano, Cassa and Hercules. The newest aircraft, the modernized F-16 AB, was also deployed specifically.

Pangkoopsau II, Air Marshal Minggit Tribowo upon arriving at Abdulrachman Saleh Air Force Base, Malang, Monday (28/09/2020) said that his party hopes that the testing of the aircraft will run optimally so that it will further strengthen the resilience and readiness of the Indonesian Air Force and increase the skills of soldiers in operating it.

Several air operations that are the responsibility of Koopsau II, he said, were simulated in this war exercise. Such as intelligence operations, strategic attack operations, air and ground resistance operations and air support operations including air refueling and parachuting.

From this war exercise, Pangkoopsau II said it will be seen and will be a reference for evaluation. Such as how much strength, shortcomings and what kind of ideal abilities should be possessed by the soldiers.

"Will there be a need for strengthening in supporting infrastructure, defense equipment or aircraft crews? In addition, it will also be a correction whether the doctrine within the Indonesian Air Force is in line and efficient with the demands of progress in the future," he concluded. (say/yon)
