Penanggungan Wins First Place in Disaster Resilient Village in Middle Category at East Java Province Level

Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – Another brilliant achievement was achieved by Malang City. This time it was the turn of Penanggungan Village, Klojen District to achieve an achievement by winning First Place in the Disaster Resilient Village in the Middle Category at the East Java Province Level. The morning assembly and awarding ceremony were led by Sofyan Edi Jarwoko as Deputy Mayor of Malang City. (19/10/2020).

Penanggungan Village Head Yuyun Nanik Ekowati presented the award certificate and trophy for First Place in the Disaster Resilient Village Competition in the Middle Category at the East Java Provincial Level to the Deputy Mayor of Malang, Sofyan Edi Jarwoko.

This success adds to the long list of achievements of Malang City at the East Java regional level, because in the same month Malang City also won 1st place in the East Java Province Sub-district Performance Synergy.

Responding to this, Malang Deputy Mayor Ir. H. Sofyan Edi Jarwoko expressed his pride and congratulations on the achievements obtained by Penanggungan Village. "This morning we are quite proud to see the celebration of the achievements of the Penanggungan Village residents. Together with the village head, the community has been assessed to have achieved an achievement for the Disaster Resilient Village at the Middle level of East Java Province. Congratulations," he said.

This award is proof that the public, government and stakeholders are aware of this. stakeholder already has a high level of awareness regarding disaster issues, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic. For information, Malang City has now entered the Covid-19 orange zone.

The Deputy Mayor who is often called Bung Edi also said that the follow-up in the future regarding this achievement is to create Resilient Villages in other villages in Malang City. "The follow-up is how to emerge like Penanggungan Village in other villages. Penanggungan Village can move again to the main level," he concluded.

On this occasion, it was also attended by the Head of BPBD Malang City Drs. Alie Mulyanto, MM, Head of Penanggungan Village Yuyun Nanik Ekowati, Coordinator of the Community Empowerment Agency (BKM) of Penanggungan Village and also several representatives of community elements from Penanggungan Village.

Head of BPBD Malang City Drs. Alie Mulyanto, MM said that it is necessary to achieve the target to continue building and developing Resilient Villages which until now have been registered with BPBD as many as 40 villages and are still lacking 17 more, while those that have been registered with the police are 29 and from the TNI-Polri there are approximately 13.

"All of this is developing in order to provide the best service to the community in order to overcome the disaster because this is also a disaster that we must face together," he explained.

Responding to this achievement, Penanggungan Village Head Yuyun Nanik Ekowati said that this was thanks to the pentahelix collaboration not only involving the government and the community, but also involving the business world, which was realized through a joint memorandum of understanding in the context of developing a Disaster Resilient Village.
