Breadfruit (malangkota.go.id) – In order to welcome the 2020 National Santri Day, the Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji, visited the Nurul Ulum Islamic Boarding School (Ponpes) located in Kebonsari Village, Sukun District, Malang City, Wednesday (21/10/2020).
Malang Mayor Sutiaji said that National Santri Day is a beautiful gift from the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, which is currently being commemorated for the third time. "Hopefully, the commemoration of Santri Day will make Indonesia even better," said Sutiaji.
As someone who has experienced life in a boarding school, Sutiaji did not forget to give a message and encouragement to the students. Where with the limitations they have, they should not give up but instead they should be more courageous in being creative to be independent.
The caretaker of Nurul Ulum Islamic Boarding School, Ahmad Musafak, was very grateful for the presence of the mayor in the activities at Nurul Ulum Islamic Boarding School. This gathering is important to be grateful together for the gifts of Allah. "In the midst of limitations, students are always educated to be independent. We hope that this activity can further motivate students to become a useful generation," explained Gus Safak, Ahmad Musafak's nickname.
Gus Safak added that in the midst of the current Covid-19 pandemic, Nurul Ulum Islamic Boarding School is also implementing health protocols. Therefore, this activity was carried out very limitedly, uploaded online and attended by 60 Islamic boarding schools in Malang City. (cah/ram/yon)
