Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – In the last few days, several prices of basic necessities in Malang City have started to increase, such as chicken eggs from Rp20 thousand per kilogram to Rp23 thousand to Rp24 thousand. Likewise, cut chicken meat from Rp33 thousand per kilogram has increased to Rp35 thousand.
In this regard, the Malang City Cooperative, Industry and Trade Service (Diskopindag) held market operations and cheap markets in five places spread across five sub-districts in Malang City. Collaborating with Perum Bulog Malang, it is hoped that a number of prices will not continue to climb, especially when approaching the 2021 Christmas and New Year celebrations.
Head of the Trade Control and Supervision Section of the Malang City Trade and Industry Office, Luh Eka Wilantari, Wednesday (18/11/2020) when met at the cheap market held at the Gading Kasri Village Office, Klojen District, Malang City, said that this event uses a coupon system to avoid buying up.
Each resident is limited in their purchases and divided into three waves for each market operation because it is still in the Covid-19 pandemic atmosphere. "The increase in eggs and broiler chicken meat, from the information we received, is estimated to be triggered by the increase in the price of animal feed," added Eka.
Meanwhile, red onions with good quality, he said, which increased by around Rp3.000 from the normal price of Rp29.000 per kilogram due to a poor harvest. In each location of market operations and cheap markets, various prices of basic necessities are sold cheaper than market prices, namely a difference of between Rp1.000 and Rp2.000.
Furthermore, Eka said, through this event, the purchasing power of the community which has not been good so far will increase and to reduce the level of public unrest, when a number of prices start to creep up. "This market operation and cheap market will be held again if at any time there is a price spike again," he said.
One of the residents of Gading Kasri Village, Patmisari who received a coupon and had the opportunity to shop for a number of necessities admitted that she was greatly helped by this event. This woman in a hijab also expressed her gratitude because when the prices of several necessities increased, the Malang City Government was present in the midst of the community. (say/yon)
