Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – Activity Meeting Incentive Conference Exhibition (MICE) Table Top Disporapar Malang City 2020 which was held on Saturday night (05/12/2020) at the Savana Hotel Malang City was a follow-up to the program recovery recovery of the creative economy tourism sector of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) of the Republic of Indonesia.
The event is also to develop the progress of tourism in Malang City. IThe tourism industry is an industry that is developed and relied upon as one of the sectors driving economic growth, because the tourism sector has a significant influence on the community's economy.
Some of these things were conveyed by the Deputy Mayor of Malang Ir. H. Sofyan Edi Jarwoko when opening the event. In the current conditions, he said, The impact of the corona virus outbreak has put enormous pressure on the tourism sector. Low tourist confidence in the implementation of health protocols is one of the causes of the decline in tourist arrivals.
"Likewise with the organization of meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions. (meeting, incentive, convention, and exhibition-MICE) In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, one of the tourism industry sectors that was most affected, because it fell drastically or was forced to wait and see with the situation," added the man who is often called Bung Edi.
He added, of course this is a concern and there must be steps to revive the tourism sector, especially MICE activities. Given that the implementation of MICE always involves many business sectors or industries and many parties, which creates a multiple economic influence that is beneficial and can be felt by many parties so that MICE needs to be restored immediately.
Therefore, said the bespectacled man, his party hopes that every business actor and industry in the MICE sector will continue to have a positive outlook even though the current conditions are not friendly.
Furthermore, Mr. Edi said that through this MICE Table Top activity, it is hoped that it can become a positive event for business actors and the tourism industry to explore potential, exchange ideas and provide the latest information regarding the conditions of each tourism actor, which of course is useful for each other. support and still have plans and hopes for the future when facing this difficult situation.
"In order to support the adaptation of new habits, in the implementation of MICE, health protocols (washing hands, wearing masks and maintaining distance) will continue to be implemented based on cleanliness, health, safety and environmental sustainability so that there are no new clusters of the spread of Covid-19," he explained.
With such efforts, he said, his party believes and is optimistic that the tourism sector in Malang City can recover and be able to become an attraction for tourists to visit Malang City.
