Klojen, (malangkota.go.id) – To increase the role of women in development, the Malang City Government through the Malang City Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) held a Women's Development Planning Deliberation (Musrenbang) with the theme 'Women's Participation in Malang City Development Planning' online at the Ngalam Command Center (NCC) Malang City Hall, Thursday (28/02/2021).

The Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji was present with the Chairperson of the Malang City PKK TP Widayati Sutiaji, S.Sos., MM, Chairperson of the Malang City DPRD I Made Rian Diana Kartika, Head of the Malang City Bappeda Dwi Rahayu, SH., M.Hum, Chairperson of the Malang City Dharma Wanita, representatives from the sub-districts and representatives of women's communities in Malang City.
In her speech, Sutiaji said that women have an extraordinary contribution in the process and implementation of development, including the implementation of this Women's Musrenbang. Sutiaji said, to listen to what the complaints of women, mothers who are pregnant until they die are in direct contact with humanitarian values.
"The female component is very important, because it is a combination of brain and feeling. So the role of women can color the strategy in the growth and development of our lives," explained Sutiaji.
He added that the Malang City Government is committed to implementing the principle of inclusive development, including protecting and accommodating women. This is in accordance with the three missions of Malang City, namely to realize a harmonious and tolerant city, based on diversity and siding with vulnerable communities and gender.
"According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), during this pandemic, women's contribution and participation in lifting the economy is high, there has been an increase of around 28 percent. This means that women are not just taking care of themselves but how they can maintain the stability of the family's economy which has an impact on the economy in Malang City," he explained again.
In addition, Sutiaji said that women have five main women's rights, namely the right to employment, the right to health, the right to education, the right to marriage and family, and the right to public and politics.
Women's Musrenbang is an innovation of Malang City to realize gender equality and fulfillment of women's basic rights in the scope of development planning. As many as 53 percent of proposals in the implementation of Women's Musrenbang last year have been accommodated in the 2021 Malang City Budget. To realize the support for gender equality, Sutiaji said that it is necessary to increase women's empowerment in entrepreneurship to encourage regional economic recovery.
"In addition, there is also an increase in the role of mothers in children's education, especially during the pandemic, improving women's health, and strengthening understanding and cooperation to encourage Gender Mainstreaming (PUG)," he continued.
Meanwhile, resource person Rr Nia Paramita Yusuf, M.Sc., M.Psi, Psychologist said that women's participation in development has five points. First, women can be actors or implementers, so that women are no longer objects but become subjects of development.
"Second, women are directly involved in controlling the implementation of development activities. Third, women are directly involved in decision-making for development activities. Fourth, as advisors in the development process and planning, and finally, women as beneficiaries of development," he said.
At the end of the event, the signing of the minutes of the implementation of the Women's Musrenbang in the context of compiling the 2022 RKPD by the Forkopimda of Malang City, as well as representatives from the women's community in Malang City. (rika/ram)
