Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – Every citizen of Malang City should take advantage of the existence of cooperatives by becoming a member of a healthy cooperative. So that it can support and support a better life in the future. By cooperating, it will help improve the standard of living of the community.

This was conveyed by the Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji after opening the technical guidance event for the implementation of the cooperative member meeting at the Gajah Mada Hotel, Malang City, Wednesday (27/01/2021). On the first day, the Malang City Cooperative, Industry and Trade Service (Diskoperindag) which hosted this event invited 60 people from representatives of 60 women's cooperatives.
On the second day, 60 representatives from various types of cooperatives such as savings and loan cooperatives, multi-purpose cooperatives and employee cooperatives of the Republic of Indonesia will also be invited. The Mayor of Malang, Sutiaji, also hopes that this event can optimize and make each cooperative healthier.
On the other hand, the bespectacled man appealed not to abuse the existence of cooperatives. For example, by filtering its members, such as not letting any loan sharks become members. "If that happens, the practices of loan sharks under the guise of cooperatives will increasingly disturb the community," explained Sutiaji.
If there is such a practice, he said, then it is no longer the realm of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) if a dispute occurs, but it can go to the legal realm. Therefore, cooperatives must be truly selective in carrying out all their activities.
No less important, Sutiaji also appealed that cooperatives should not only focus on savings and loans in their activities. Cooperatives must innovate and collaborate, such as by partnering with Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and opening small businesses for their members. (ram/say)
