Ministry of Education and Culture Appoints Malang City to Form Driving Schools

Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – To realize the vision of a better Indonesian education, a more advanced Indonesia that is sovereign, independent and has personality, the Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud) launched the school mover program. The launch of the program in the seventh episode was held virtually on Monday (01/02/2021).

In this program, Malang City also participated in the event from the Ngalam Command Center (NCC) building, Malang City Hall. Until now, the driving schools that start from early childhood education to secondary schools have been in 34 provinces and 111 districts/cities.

Minister of Education and Culture, Nadiem Anwar Makarim virtually said that if all these programs are designed to be sustainable, then the Ministry of Education and Culture will not be ambitious. "We will start with 2.500 schools first, then later expand it to 40-50 thousand at the end of the administrative year," he said.

The Minister of Education and Culture added that this program is integrated with the ecosystem of all schools and is more sustainable. Later, not only the principals and teachers will be trained, but also the curriculum and learning process. "Thus, our world of education will be better or move from 1 to 2 steps from before," explained Nadiem.

In this regard, Malang City is one of the regions that has committed and is ready to immediately realize the program resulting from the collaboration between the Ministry of Education and Culture and the regional heads. Acting Head of the Malang City Education and Culture Office, Dra. Sri Ratnawati after attending the launching event admitted that her party would move quickly.

After communicating with the Mayor of Malang, she said, a number of schools will be used as pilot schools. "Each region is not limited in number and in its implementation combines or collaborates the potential of students, teachers, school elements and parents so that each school has its own characteristics," explained the woman in the hijab.

With the existence of this driving school, Ratna continued, there will no longer be any schools labeled as favorite schools and their funding comes from the APBN and APBD. In terms of facilities and infrastructure, Malang City has met the requirements and will receive assistance from the Ministry of Education and Culture for the next 3 to 4 years.

"This driving school program will accelerate public or private schools in all school conditions. From the Ministry, indeed we have met the requirements to become a driving school because the support for financing is between the center and the regions. If it is to become a driving school in Malang City, that's it. But no matter what, I will ripe (tell) the leader (mayor_ed) with the location map and budget that we have," concluded Ratna. (say/ram)
