Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – The Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji said that the use of technology is one of the important points in facing global economic competition because we have now entered the industrial era 5.0. Where all aspects of life are always accompanied by advances in information technology.

This was conveyed by Sutiaji when attending the opening of the Creative Industry Technical Workshop for the Craft Subsector at the Ijen Suite Resort & Convention, Monday (22/02/2021). The activity initiated by the Malang City Cooperatives, Industry, and Trade Service (Diskopindag) in collaboration with the Malang City Regional National Craft Council (Dekranasda) to support increasing the capacity of the creative industry in facing global market competition.
"Our current market is not just the conventional market that we usually face. But we are required to enter the global market with increasingly strong competitors. What we have to do is how we must always have extraordinary creativity and use technology in marketing the work of the creative industry," explained Sutiaji.
The three objectives of this activity are to improve the skills and innovation of craft products, especially accessories with electroforming techniques, develop the potential of crafts from waste materials into high-value products, and empower industry and community participation, especially small and medium industries (SMEs) in crafts and accessories.

"Diskopindag will continue to strengthen and develop training activities like this. In addition, it will continue to provide assistance and not only in terms of skills. But also funding and providing solutions related to obstacles and problems faced," said Sutiaji.
The Mayor of Malang hopes that through various trainings held by the Malang City Government, the skills and knowledge of creative economy actors in terms of product quality can be improved so that they are ready to compete in the global economy.
Meanwhile, Widayati Sutiaji greatly appreciated the activity attended by 30 representatives of SMEs in Malang City. Dekranasda as a government partner, non-profit and independent institution certainly strongly supports and wants to be a pioneer in advancing SMEs in Malang City.
"Dekranasda has the function of exploring, developing, and preserving local cultural wisdom and continuing to collaborate with the Malang City Government in efforts to advance and market MSME and IKM craft products in Malang City, including in the context of economic recovery amid the pandemic," explained Widayati Sutiaji.
Dekranasda collaborates with the Malang City Government as an effort in economic recovery so that it can run well, so training like this must be strengthened again. (eka/ram)
