Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – The Malang City Government has a natural disaster detection tool with the latest technology called the Warning Receiver System (WRS). This tool functions to provide early information when an earthquake occurs. So that the disaster management steps given will be faster, especially earthquakes and tsunamis.

"It's time to think about other systems that utilize sophisticated technology for disaster management," said Deputy Mayor of Malang, Ir. H. Sofyan Edi Jarwoko when opening the regional apparatus forum held by the Malang City Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) at Ijen Suites Resort & Convention, Tuesday (23/02/2021).
Bung Edi, Sofyan Edi Jarwoko's nickname, said that in addition to natural disasters, the central government has declared the Covid-19 pandemic as a national disaster so that it is a shared responsibility. Therefore, people who have recovered from Covid-19 are encouraged to donate their blood plasma through the Plasma Hero Movement.
"Regarding the Covid-19 vaccine, many people are still worried about being vaccinated, so it is our duty to provide understanding and education to the public. Especially for those who are still hesitant, that this vaccine is safe and can minimize the risk of contracting Covid-19," said Bung Edi.
According to Bung Edi, Indonesian society has great capital, namely the spirit of mutual cooperation, shoulder to shoulder, high social sensitivity. Through the participation and concern of the community, it will certainly be very helpful for those affected by the disaster.
"Disaster management and handling is a valuable investment. We need to understand and align perceptions of this concept more deeply," he continued.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Drs. Alie Mulyanto, MM conveyed the purpose of this regional apparatus forum to sharpen the performance targets of the Malang City BPBD. Through input provided by various parties present at this forum, BPBD hopes that the work plan that is prepared later can be in line with the programs of regional apparatus and other related organizations. So that it can be more optimal and on target.
"This event was attended by 69 related regional apparatuses, BPBD Malang Raya, related agencies, and volunteer organizations. The regional apparatus forum held is a forum for communication, synchronization, coordination, synergy by all related parties," said Alie Mulyanto.
Based on the results of the sub-district Murenbang, there were at least 70 proposals received by BPBD for disaster management in Malang City. In addition, there were also several proposals collected from the youth Musrenbang for disaster preparedness and mitigation. (ari/ram)
