Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – Malang City is planned to become pilot project for vaccination from the Ministry of Health. Currently, the Malang City Government is preparing its proposal. This selection is based on several indicators. This was conveyed by the Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji when opening the Covid-19 Immunization Socialization and Advocacy event at the Atria Hotel Malang, Tuesday (23/02/2021).

The purpose of the activity is to coordinate, synchronize, and reach an understanding with the health service facilities designated to carry out the Covid-19 vaccination. Thus, it is hoped that the implementation of the vaccination in the next stage can run smoothly and achieve the targets that have been set.
"The Malang City indicator will be a pilot project because we (Malang City_ed) are ready and the report is orderly. Malang is a small city, but the number of people exposed is below Surabaya, the control is quite good," added Sutiaji.
Meanwhile, Acting Head of the Malang City Health Office Sri Winarni, SH., MM when met separately revealed that the first phase of the second vaccination targeting health workers (nakes) had been carried out. Through this activity, directors of health service facilities can directly convey and discuss experiences in implementing the first phase of the Covid-19 vaccination.
For example, providing input, problems, or obstacles faced. In addition, participants will also receive direct direction from the Head of Disease Prevention and Control (P2P) of the East Java Provincial Health Office.
"Considering that the duration of the Covid-19 vaccination is still long and will continue until the end of 2021. So it is hoped that it can reach the target coverage that has been determined according to the availability of vaccines distributed by the central government through the East Java Provincial Health Office," explained Sri Winarni.
Sri Winarni also added that the vaccine for the implementation of the 2nd phase of vaccination targeting the designated vaccine recipients had been sent from the East Java Provincial Health Office on Monday (23/02/2021) evening. The community groups included in the priority for the second phase of vaccination are community groups that have high interaction and mobility so that they are very vulnerable to being exposed to Covid-19.
These community groups include the elderly, market traders, educators (teachers and lecturers), religious figures, government officials, and state civil servants (ASN), public transportation workers, tourism actors and arts workers (officers, hotels, restaurants, artists), public servants (Damkar, BPBD, BUMN, village officers), security officers, athletes, and journalists and media workers.
"Meanwhile, the implementation of Covid-19 vaccination for the elderly, the policy from the central government will be carried out in seven provincial capitals including East Java, namely Surabaya. Meanwhile, for districts/cities, they are still waiting for instructions from the center," he said.
The data collection for prospective recipients of the 2nd phase of the vaccine is still ongoing until now. Because in principle all public service officers must be vaccinated. So the data collection process continues to be carried out in accordance with the priorities that have been set. (eka/ram)
