Malang Mayor Hopes Smart City Will Be Completely Implemented in 2022

Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – The Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji highlighted the implementation of smart governance in Malang City. He hopes that the smart city program that has been echoed since 2014 can be implemented comprehensively in 2022. He conveyed this at the regional apparatus forum initiated by the Malang City Communication and Informatics Service (Diskominfo) at the Savana Hotel, Malang City, Thursday (25/2/2021).

"Malang's extraordinary creative potential needs to be synergized with a smart city. There should be no fear from the Malang City Government if its people are smart. (Because) when a program gets legitimacy from the community, there must be benefits, that the community is not always a priori to the city government's program," said Sutiaji in his speech.

Three things need to be understood, namely the willingness of all levels of the Malang City Government to improve, public awareness to be smarter in responding to various issues in the region, and understanding of the process towards achieving a society or industrial era 5.0 that does not only worship or become a slave to technology. But is actually able to manage technology and information wisely for the good.

Meanwhile, Acting Head of Malang City Communication and Information Office, Erik Setyo Santoso, ST., MT said that this event is in line with the mandate of the Regulation of the Minister of Home Affairs Number 86 of 2017 concerning Procedures for Planning, Controlling and Evaluation of Regional Development, Procedures for Evaluation of Draft Regional Regulations concerning Regional Long-Term Development Plans and Regional Medium-Term Development Plans, as well as Procedures for Amendments to Regional Long-Term Development Plans, Regional Medium-Term Development Plans, and Regional Government Work Plans.

"Diskominfo is ready to prepare a work plan (renja) for the 2022 planning year that is in synergy with the preparation of the regional government work plan (RKPD), and becomes an inseparable part of the regional apparatus strategic plan for 2018-2023," said Erik Setyo Santoso.

In compiling the 2022 regional apparatus planning document, in accordance with the 2022 RKPD theme, namely increasing access and quality of basic services, strengthening the community's creative industry and socio-economic recovery as well as increasing integrated infrastructure.

Programs and activities within the scope of implementing the tasks and functions carried out by the Communication and Information Service in 2022 are designed to optimize support for achieving performance indicator targets in the Malang City RPJMD which will enter its fourth year of implementation.

"The increase in the achievement of a number of indicators of the electronic-based government system governance index (SPBE) from 3,00 (2019) to 3,39 (2020) and the increase in the achievement of the SPBE service index from 2,97 (2019) to 3,9 (2020) are certainly something to be grateful for, and should not make all levels of the Communication and Information Service complacent," he continued.

Strengthening technology-based public services is currently a non-negotiable issue. Moreover, the presence of the Covid-19 pandemic requires the government as a provider of public services and the community as users to both adapt and be technology literate.

"Therefore, the Malang City Communication and Information Service is ready to realize the acceleration of the integration of various public service information systems spread across various regional devices. Smart governance that has been echoed by the Mayor of Malang is targeted to be realized in 2022. So that the public can access various public services more easily and quickly," he said.

Sectoral database is also the second strategic issue that will continue to be strengthened. An up-to-date and valid database is very important as a pillar of regional development policy-making, from planning to evaluation of regional government implementation. Therefore, the weaknesses in data availability in the past must be completely answered.

No less important, Diskominfo will also strengthen communication of regional policies and potential through a pentahelix approach, including increasing harmony and cooperation with universities, media personnel, community information groups, even influencers/social media activists as an effort to support regional policy synergy and constructive two-way communication.
