Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – Malang Mayor, Drs. H. Sutiaji said the task of the Community Protection Unit (Satlinmas) is to protect the community from various possible dangers. Including protecting the community from national disintegration so that resilience must be strong and the integrity of the Republic of Indonesia must be maintained.

"We also need to strengthen resilience to disasters, including non-natural disasters. There needs to be a shared vision that Linmas does not only carry out the duties of Satpol PP, but must also be ready if RT, RW, sub-districts, and districts need help," said Sutiaji when opening the dissemination event on the roles and functions of members of the Community Protection Unit (Satlinmas) at the Ijen Suites Hotel Malang, Saturday (27/02/2021).
Linmas must always be vigilant if there are indications of radicalism or the like, and are expected to immediately report and coordinate with the authorities. As a form of appreciation for the front line for public security and protection, in this forum the mayor expressed a discourse to increase incentives for Linmas members.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Malang City Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), Drs. Priyadi, MM said that currently the number of Linmas members in Malang City is approximately 3.100 people. Today there are 228 Linmas members present from 57 sub-districts. So each is represented by 4 people. "The purpose of this dissemination is to provide information and an overview to Linmas members regarding their duties in the field," he said.
Capt. Arhanud Imran, Danramil Blimbing, when delivering his material said that social vulnerability that causes unrest is caused by conflict due to differences of opinion in society. "Linmas must have the instinct to detect vulnerability early. Linmas is expected to be able to implement the 'quick meeting' formula with 3D, namely being heard, approached, get information reports 'quick report' with 3L, namely localize, do something, report," said Capt. Arhanud Imran.
In a pandemic situation like now, Linmas is also responsible for ensuring that the community continues to implement and comply with health protocols. Linmas is also encouraged to be more active in resilient village activities. Regarding disaster risks, it is hoped that Linmas can also guard and provide warnings to residents, especially those living in areas prone to natural disasters such as floods and landslides.
"It is expected that Linmas will cooperate and collaborate with Babinsa and Babinkamtibmas, as well as with local apparatus, so that security and order can be guaranteed," he continued. (ari/ram)
