At least that is what motivated a young man from Malang City, Gerry Yo when making a mask strap made of silver and gold plated.
The reason is, in the last few months along with the new habit of wearing masks during the pandemic and the habit becoming a culture, many people want to look different. Especially for the upper middle class, the mothers of public officials to the capital city artists. The idea came to Gerry's mind to make a mask strap that looks luxurious and meets aesthetic standards.
Like a match made in heaven, the work of this 28-year-old single man received a positive market, especially from several circles above. Orders also began to come from women, such as from the mayor's wife, heads of departments and even artists in the capital, for example Dewi Persik and Titi Dwi Djayanti.
"To make a silver mask strap, it takes 2 to 3 days, while the gold-plated one takes 3 to 5 days," he said when met at his business premises on Jalan Ikan Piranha, Malang City, Monday (01/03/2021).
For those interested, the model or design of the mask strap can be adjusted to the customer's wishes, such as adding letters or names. Marketed online and conventionally, every month Gerry can earn up to tens of millions of rupiah. Later, he admitted that he would continue to innovate so that more people would be interested.
"So my goal in posting this is also to provide new enthusiasm for the public to continue wearing masks even though the vaccine is available but we still have to comply with health protocols. So we still have to wear masks and with a new spirit, I hope it can become a trend and provide new enthusiasm for people to continue wearing masks in their daily activities," he said.
What Gerry did received positive appreciation from the Acting Head of the Cooperatives, Industry and Trade Service (Diskopindag) of Malang City, Drs. Wahyu Setianto, MM. The reason is, Gerry is a creative and innovative young person and deserves appreciation from various parties.
"So we photograph our UMKM products, we put them on Instagram, Facebook and other friends, we introduce their products. And so far, both UMKM products and traders who are marketed, we also suggest promoting and selling them online. Alhamdulillah, the development is indeed extraordinary," explained Wahyu. (say/ram)
