Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – The Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji became one of the speakers in the Pancasila seminar with the theme 'Pancasila as a Preventative of Corruption' at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang, Wednesday (03/03/2021). The material presented was Pancasila, a shield from the temptation of corruption.

According to him, so far no religion teaches its followers to take the rights of others. But in this (known) religious country, corruptors still often occur and the triggers for these despicable actions are many, such as power and opportunity.
To suppress behavior that can damage the nation's order, Sutiaji explained, one of them is the need for an evaluation of the learning content in the world of education. The number one person in the Malang City Government gave an example, the understanding of any religious teachings today is still more textual than philosophical.
"In understanding Pancasila, the most important thing is not just memorizing the contents of principles 1 to 5, but how to apply them in people's lives. This is our shared homework, so that if Pancasila is understood and applied comprehensively, it will become a fortress or shield in preventing corruption," he explained.

Furthermore, Sutiaji said, not only preventing corruption, strengthening Pancasila values is expected to be a guardian of identity amidst the rapid changes brought by the technological era. "Our society is mostly inhabited by millennials/young people, so it is from them that the strengthening of Pancasila values is needed because they are the future leaders of this nation," he explained.
Through various social media channels, said Sutiaji, the government and especially the Malang City Government also maximized the campaign to strengthen Pancasila values. "Especially those referring to early prevention of corruption and for now a program like this is needed," he explained.
Regarding the theme of this seminar, Luthfi J Kurniawan from Malang Corruption Watch (MCW) said, as an effort to prevent and suppress corruption, government policies that side with the people are needed. According to him, a healthy, transparent, and credible government will also strengthen these efforts. (say/ram)
