This was conveyed by the Chairperson of the Malang City Regional National Craft Council (Dekranasda), Widayati Sutiaji after attending the 2021 Dekranas National Working Meeting at the Ngalam Command Center (NCC), Malang City Hall, Wednesday (03/03/2021).
For information, the National Craft Council (Dekranas) is an organization that collects, accommodates, and develops craft products and develops businesses at the central level. While Dekranasda is an extension of Dekranas to take care of crafts at the regional level. Dekranas also always strives to improve the lives of Indonesian craftsmen in order to achieve economic independence.
"This event is part of a series of events to commemorate the 41st anniversary of Dekranas on March 3, 2021, namely the holding of a national working meeting and the inauguration of the heads of Dekranasda in several regions virtually," said Widayati Sutiaji.
The 41st anniversary of Dekranas takes the theme "Healthy Craftsmen, Great Craftsmen, Advanced Indonesia". This theme was taken with the hope that craftsmen will continue to work and be able to face challenges during the pandemic.
"The hope is that more regional apparatuses will be involved and can collaborate with each other," said Muhamad Sailendra, ST., MM, Daily Chair of Dekranasda and Head of Diskopindag of Malang City.
The majority of Dekranasda administrators are regional apparatuses in Malang City, namely Diskopidag, Disporapar, Bappeda, and Diskominfo. Strengthened by administrators who have a background in practitioners and craft activists. Thus, it will facilitate coordination and collaboration in developing products produced by IKM and UKM in Malang City.
"Malang City has the potential of resources and traditions, ranging from culinary, fashion, crafts, even digital creative industries. Dekranasda seeks to explore, preserve and develop crafts that have the value of tradition and national culture," he continued.
The presence of Dekranasda is expected to empower IKM and UKM through various programs, such as exhibitions, training, and socialization. In line with this, seeing the digital world that is developing rapidly and can be used as a product promotion media, it is necessary to also schedule training and socialization related to the promotion of IKM and UKM products digitally.
In addition to improving the quality of human resources and products, Dekranasda also seeks to help craftsmen by promoting their craft products. Given that Malang City is also famous as a tourist destination and several hotels have also provided UKM Corners.
