Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – Disaster Preparedness Cadets (Tagana) are social volunteers or Social Welfare Workers who come from the community and have concerns, and are active in disaster management in the field of social protection. Tagana has provided various assistance and services to help the community, both before a disaster, during a disaster, and after a disaster.

Tagana has a line of coordination with the Social Service as the leading sector. Tagana has the main task, namely assessment, logistics, and handling of social risks. The Social Service itself in providing assistance is also based on the assessment carried out by Tagana and distributed to the victims. In addition, Tagana also provides assistance to disaster victims, including trauma healing.
Tagana Coordinator of Malang City, Drs. Djoko Anung Prijanto, stated that Tagana is present with the hope that the community can understand and recognize disasters. Many people sometimes underestimate disasters.
"One example, people say this place is far from the mountain. Who says, if Mount Semeru erupts to the west, of course it will be affected here. This place is also prone to earthquakes. We also see that there are many residents living in the watershed. Like yesterday in Tulusrejo and Purwantoro, there were around 90 families affected. We will provide assistance through the Social Service," said Djoko, Tuesday (30/03/2021).
Tagana Malang City has taken the initial step of working together with educational institutions to provide early education for students related to disaster response. One of them is working together with SD Negeri Model Malang City.
In the framework of its 17th anniversary, Tagana has planned activities. In addition to the tree planting movement, Tagana also participated in the socialization of PPKM Mikro in several sub-districts which are currently still ongoing, such as spraying disinfectants. This is also Tagana's main activity program this year," said Djoko.
Regarding the tree planting that was carried out, he admitted that the tree planting movement was not only symbolic. Tagana will monitor and assist until the trees grow large. Tagana has prepared durian and avocado tree seedlings.
His party has also received around 1.000 pule tree seedlings from the Deputy Mayor of Malang and the Young Generation of the Communication Forum of Indonesian Retired Sons and Daughters (GM FKPPI). Tagana's target is to plant 1.000 trees, while the national Tagana target is one million trees.
"I agree with this activity because there is an element of education, there is character education, there is also an effort to rebuild our nature that may have been tarnished which causes the quality of water and air to be less good. Hopefully the role of Tagana will be increasingly felt by the community, especially in overcoming disaster problems in Malang City," said Deputy Mayor of Malang, Ir. H. Sofyan Edi Jarwoko while attending a tree planting activity in the framework of Tagana's Anniversary. (ari/ram)
