Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – Coinciding with the 107th anniversary of Malang City which falls on April 1, 2021, the Malang City Government held an activity called 'Family Data Collection Launching and Toddler Weighing Service Month'. This activity was held at Posyandu Melati II RW 05, Kebonsari Village, Sukun District.

Launching of Family Data Collection and Toddler Weighing Service Month

The 2021 family census conducted by the National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) was carried out from April 1 to May 31, 2021. The census was conducted to validate data as a basis for the government in implementing policies to improve and equalize development and community welfare. BKKBN will conduct the 2021 family census to capture the current condition of Indonesian families in order to build quality families, including in the health sector.

In relation to the family data collection program, the Head of Public Health of the Malang City Health Office, Dra. Latifah Hanun explained that family data collection was carried out with the aim of collecting data related to the level of public health. However, in addition to health, this family data collection is also related to economic and social data of the community. Data from the results of family data collection can be used as a basis for handling stunting.

"These elements are interrelated and will be integrated with activities at the integrated health post. Integrated health posts themselves are services that come from the community and for the community itself. We pay more attention to preventing and overcoming stunting. In 2021, Malang City will become the locus of stunting," he explained.

For weighing toddlers, he said, this is actually a routine activity of the integrated health post. Even during a pandemic, integrated health posts must continue to provide services to the community, because toddlers must get their rights in terms of health. However, it should be remembered that the activities must also be carried out according to health protocols.

"Posyandu is one of the community-based and purely community-owned activities, with this activity it is hoped that toddlers and pregnant women can get maximum health services," explained Dr. Edi Dwitanto, Head of Ciptomulyo Health Center.

Regarding the process flow of toddler weighing activities, Dr. Edi explained that there are several stages that mothers and toddlers will go through for this weighing activity. First, mothers and toddlers must register first, then the weighing and measuring of the weight and length of the toddler's body is carried out. Next, the toddler's development is recorded and health and nutrition counseling will be carried out. Finally, health services such as immunization and nutrition services are carried out.

Through this activity, it is expected to be an invitation for the community to routinely weigh toddlers. Thus, child growth and development can be controlled and if there is less than ideal toddler growth and development, it can be known early.

"To prevent malnutrition and stunting, let's always actively visit the integrated health post to maintain children's health and development," concluded Hanun. (ari/ram)
