Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – The Malang City Government through the Cooperatives, Industry and Trade Service (Diskopindag) in collaboration with the Malang City Regional National Crafts Council (Dekranasda) held an annual event entitled Malang Batik Festival (MBF) 2021. This MBF activity is an annual event which in 2021 has been held for the third time.
The Mayor of Malang, H. Drs. Sutiaji expressed his appreciation to Diskopindag and Dekranasda for holding this quite interesting event. According to him, this event is one of the efforts to advance and restore the Indonesian economy. In accordance with the current commitment of the City Government that economic recovery must be strengthened.
"Dekranasda's commitment to explore the potential to be able to innovate, then develop, and preserve. Now batik has gone global, if foreigners are proud of Indonesian products, wearing Indonesian products, then what we need to explore is that we must get used to loving Indonesian products. One of them is batik. We need to develop this continuously," said Sutiaji at the event held from April 7-8, 2021 at the Kartini Building, Malang City, Wednesday (07/04/2021).
Head of Diskopindag, Muhammad Sailendra, ST., MM said that there were several activities carried out at this event, namely a mask design competition using Batik Malangan as the basic material and a ready-to-wear deluxe fashion design competition using Batik Malangan. In addition, there was also an exhibition of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) products, fashion crafts and accessories, as well as culinary, batik fashion fashion show, and accessory making and product photography workshops.
"The purpose of this activity is to support and implement the national economic recovery program affected by the Covid-19 pandemic," said Muhammad Sailendra.
In addition, he said, developing the potential of small and medium industries (IKM) in the craft subsector, especially batik and fashion to always be creative and innovative. Furthermore, to empower the industry and community participation, especially IKM batik and fashion crafts in Malang City. He also said that his party is trying to help small industry players to improve their skills so they can compete nationally.
Meanwhile, the Chairperson of Dekranasda Malang City, Hj. Widayati Sutiaji, S. Sos., MM said that the Malang Batik Festival activity is a manifestation of the essence of Dekranasda to explore, develop, and preserve crafts. Not only through fashion competitions but also exhibitions.
"Alhamdulillah, today I have succeeded in collaborating with Forkopimda, academics, and banking to be able to showcase the work of the nation's children, especially from Malang City. God willing, fashion from Malang City will not be inferior to that at the national level," explained Widayati.
Malang Batik Festival is a form of Dekranasda in improving IKM actors. Dekranasda seeks to support industry players from micro to small, small to medium, and finally to be independent.
Met after the event, Dynis Nova Sefirlia Sari, the first winner of the Malangan Batik fashion design competition, said that this event was very useful for young designers to develop their potential and at the same time get references, ideas, and input from other participants and the judges.
"Most of those who participate in the competition are also young millennials. So they can create batik more creatively, so they can make the image of batik more modern," said Dynis.
Regarding the design, this alumnus of Fashion Design at Malang State University was inspired by the Malang Monument and titled it Esta, an abbreviation of Essential of Malang Monument.
In this event, it was also interspersed with the launching of the Dekranasda Malang City website. The aim is to expand the information network in the era of technology 4.0. One of the main menus of this website is a virtual tour where website visitors can see the products fostered by Dekranasda Malang City virtually and can directly interact with the craftsmen.
Dekranasda also signed a cooperation agreement (PKS) with notary Ika Indriyani Nurullah, SH,. M.Kn to provide facilities for making business license deed of establishment and legalization by the Ministry of Law and Human Rights through a notary for free for UMKM fostered by Dekranasda Malang City. In addition, in this event, the Decree of the Mayor of Malang regarding the Establishment of the Bunulrejo Batik Center Association was also given to the Bunulrejo Village. (ari/yon/ram)
