Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – The Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji together with the Forkopimda visited the student association dormitory of Teluk Wondama Regency, West Papua in the Bajang Ratu area, Lowokwaru Malang, Sunday (11/4/2021).
"Younger siblings, don't feel like you're wandering here. But believe and instill that you are at home," said Sutiaji to West Papuan students who are studying in the city of Malang.
"Because Malang City is also your home, you must instill a sense of belonging, a sense of love and of course you must actively participate in maintaining it," he continued.
In this regard, the Mayor of Malang responded positively to the willingness of Papuan students to open themselves up and actively communicate with the local government.
"We will invite the younger siblings to activities in Malang City and I have conveyed this to the management of the Association of Indonesian Private Universities (Aptisi) Malang City," said Sutiaji.
Meanwhile, Eki Kurube as the administrator of the Teluk Wondama Regency association, West Papua, expressed his commitment to maintaining the security and order of Malang city. He asked the Mayor of Malang to understand that the diversity of Papuan people's tribes is different.
"So it is possible that there are differences, but we always instill in our younger siblings to realize that the purpose of going to Malang City is to seek knowledge. Therefore, we still need education and continue to be invited to communicate," said Eki Kurube who is currently studying for a Masters in Malang City.
Also accompanying the Mayor of Malang were the Malang City Police Chief, Senior Commissioner Pol. Dr. Leonardus Harapantua Simarmata Permata, S. Sos., S.IK., MH, the Commander of the 0833 Malang City Military District, Lieutenant Colonel Arm. Ferdian Primadona, SE., M.
