Lowokwaru, (malangkota.go.id) – The Malang Customs and Excise Supervision and Service Office (KPPBC) of the Middle Excise Type held a socialization activity for identifying the authenticity of excise stamps for the 2021 design in the local office hall on Jalan Surabaya Number 2 Malang, Wednesday (21/04/2021).
In addition to socializing ways to check the authenticity of excise stamps, this activity also aims to provide information on changes to the new design in 2021.
Head of KPPBC Type Madya Excise Malang, Latif Helmi said that there are changes in the design of excise tape from year to year. Because every year there are changes in design and special signs to adjust to developments.
"Because the process or modes to commit forgery and so on are also increasingly sophisticated. So there needs to be a change, there needs to be a modification or additional identification there," Latif explained.
Excise stamps issued by the Directorate General of Customs and Excise are security documents as a sign of payment of excise in the form of paper that has security properties/elements with certain specifications and designs. The theme of the 2021 excise stamp design is marine biota.
"In the socialization activity on the design of excise tapes, the designs of Tobacco Product Excise Tapes (PCHT), Ethyl Alcohol Beverage Excise Tapes (PCMMEA), and Other Tobacco Processing Product Excise Tapes (PCHPTL) were presented," he continued.
In addition to design, participants also gain insight into violations and sanctions if the rules on excise tape are not implemented properly, as well as how to place excise tape. How to identify the authenticity of excise tape by looking at paper, holograms, and prints.
In addition, there are three methods used. First, checking with the naked eye without the help of any tools. The characteristics of the original excise tape when viewed with the naked eye are the basic color of the excise tape paper is bluish, there are visible brown and orange fibers spread across the surface of the paper, the print is clearly visible and sharp.
"Second, using a magnifying glass. The original excise tape when viewed using a magnifying glass will clearly show visible brown and orange fibers, there is a channeling effect between the text 'BCRI' and '2021', a colorless or white hologram, the print looks clear and sharp," he said.
Third, the identification method with UV light. When checked with the help of UV light, the original excise tape has the characteristics of paper that does not fade, visible brown fibers do not fade and orange colors fade orange, while invisible fibers fade yellow and blue. Then with UV light, the invisible image of the water drop ornament can be seen and the image on the excise tape print will glow partially.
Latif hopes that with this socialization activity, participants consisting of various regional apparatuses throughout Malang Raya, as well as representatives from several business actors can share information related to how to identify the authenticity of excise stamps in the 2021 design.
