Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – Since 2019, the Malang City Ministry of Religious Affairs Office has been involved in overcoming the urban poor by fostering the community of RW 07, Tanjungrejo Village through religious touch with the presence of counselors. The enthusiasm of the residents was high, so that this fostered village was upgraded to a zakat village.

Visit of the Ministry of Religion with the Mayor of Malang and the Forkopimda to Qoryah Sakinah Village, Tanjungrejo, Sukun, Malang City

This was conveyed by the Head of the Malang City Ministry of Religion Office, Dr. Muhtar Hazawawi during the real action activity of the Ministry of Religion together with the Mayor of Malang and the Forkopimda in Qoryah Sakinah Village, Tanjungrejo, Sukun, Malang City, Thursday (6/5/2021).

Muhtar said, for one and a half years, these movements were welcomed by the community, and finally this village became a model village with the name Qoryah Sakinah which was also developed into a thematic village in Malang City. With the concept of Qoryah Sakinah, the Ministry of Religion of Malang City is trying to collaborate with various parties to make this village more mentally spiritually empowered and economically empowered.

"To realize this hope, the Ministry of Religion has four programs that have been initiated. First, the program for religious cadres and community leaders to make this village religious, intelligent, moderate, and empowered," said Muhtar.

Next, a religious moderation program so that people have a moderate religious perspective. Then, there is a family harmony program, one of the reasons for which is the large number of couples who do not yet have a marriage certificate. The last program is the empowerment of the creative economy in collaboration with Baznas, Malang City Government, educational institutions, and various related mass organizations.

The Mayor of Malang, Drs. H Sutiaji said that this activity is a big job of the Malang City Ministry of Religious Affairs. He expressed his appreciation to the Malang City Ministry of Religious Affairs for trying to improve the standard of living of the community.

"It really helps us to design how Tanjungrejo Village, especially RW 07, can truly become an empowered village. If it's physical assistance, I think anyone can do it," Sutiaji explained.
However, he continued, if Qoryah Sakinah has been determined, the responsibility is that the community will be given education, literacy that God never discriminates against His servants. Strengthening the belief that he must rise and he must be able to live better is very, very necessary.

Regarding the slum problem, Sutiaji explained that this has become the commitment of the Malang City Government to eradicate it. In 2020, this area has been included in the Malang City Government's mapping. At least 60 heads of families (KK) have been targeted to be built free houses with a nominal value of approximately IDR 150.000.000,00 per house through the Slum-Free City (KoTaKu) program.

"I hope that in the future it will not only be Qoryah sakinah, but also Balad Sakinah, which is a peaceful country. Sakinah in the sense that we strengthen more qanaah but also how the infrastructure, basic services are fulfilled, education, and so on," continued Sutiaji.

Established in 1969, this village located in RW 07, Tanjungrejo Village, Sukun District, Malang City is a village for the homeless in Malang City.

"A plastic house was established, at that time the name of this village was plastic village. In terms of profession, the people here all work in the informal sector, such as scavengers, pedicab drivers, street vendors," said Purwadi, Head of RW 07.

"My classmates are at most junior high school graduates, but thank God, now one or two people have graduated from college. So I hope in the future the Malang City Government, DPRD, police, and prosecutors can carry out activities together in Kampung Qoryah Sakinah. So that the people here will be willing to work hard for their own progress," Purwadi hoped.

In the activity held in the middle of the village, various types of assistance were also handed over in the form of goods and infrastructure worth more than Rp200 million, with the aim of supporting activities in Kampung Qoryah Sakinah. The assistance provided included 10 business facilities (carts), 300 basic food packages, sewing equipment, worship facilities, and orphanage assistance. (eka/ari/ram)
