Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – The Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kominfo) together with 48 regencies/cities from the National Priority Tourism Area (KPPN) and the New National Capital Region (IKN) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the Implementation of the Movement Towards a Smart City which was carried out virtually, Thursday (20/5/2021).

The Malang City Government, which is one of the cities that signed the agreement, participated in activities at the Ngalam Command Center (NCC) Room at Malang City Hall.
Indonesian Minister of Communication and Information, Johnny G. Plate in his presentation revealed, citing data from the Central Statistics Agency, the informatics and communication sector grew significantly. In the first quarter of 2021, its growth reached 8,72 percent, so it will also significantly support the Smart City program.
Minister Jhonny said that this is an important pillar of national economic progress and also proof that the economic system has migrated or transformed from a physical economy to a digital economy.
"One example and real evidence is that smartphone ownership at a productive age, namely at the age of 16-64 years, continues to increase to 98,2 percent, so that local governments must also provide more optimal services in this regard," he explained.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Communication and Informatics Service (Kominfo) of Malang City, Muhammad Nur Widianto, S.Sos, said that Malang City has approximately 57 universities and creative young people on a large scale who will later help strengthen the Smart City program.
In this case, especially to continue to raise the potential of the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park (TNBTS) area which has been designated by the Central Government as one of the mainstays of national and even international scale tourism in the future.
The progress of TNBS is also inseparable from the role of three regions, namely Malang City, Malang Regency and Batu City or commonly called Malang Raya, which in its realization is one inseparable unit.
"Malang City has the potential of higher education, has the potential of digital community talents and creative economy. Hopefully there is a kind of roadmap on how to grow various activities, whether in the economic, educational, and social fields that can support the development of smart city-based tourism," added the man who is familiarly called Wiwid.
Furthermore, the friendly man said, with the creativity that is owned and through smart ways and utilizing technological and information advances, it is hoped that the potential of human resources in Malang City will be able to contribute on a regional and national scale. (say/yon)
