Malang Mayor Mentions Importance of Digital Literacy

Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – The development of the digital world in Indonesia has experienced extraordinary progress and has colored all aspects of people's lives. Along with this, people are required to be smarter and more selective in order to bring benefits to all of it.

This was emphasized by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, when launching the National Digital Literacy Program "Indonesia Makin Cakap Digital" which also commemorated the National Awakening Day (Harkitnas) which was held virtually, Thursday (20/05/2021).

The launch of the National Digital Literacy Program was carried out simultaneously on 16 television stations, 34 provinces and 514 districts/cities in Indonesia and can be watched on the Kemkominfo TV and Siberkreasi YouTube channels.

According to the number one person in Indonesia, digitalization not only brings positive impacts but also negative ones if it is wrong in its application. "I appreciate and thank the 110 institutions and communities that have contributed to the progress of the digital world in Indonesia so far," he added.

"I hope this program continues to roll and is accompanied by concrete work, especially in the fields of education and production so that in the future Indonesia will be more advanced. Regional heads should also help realize all of this in order to produce something useful. Let's intensify the virtual world with positive content that also suppresses negative things," President Jokowi invited.

Malang Mayor Drs. H. Sutiaji who attended the virtual Launch of the National Digital Literacy Program from the Ngalam Command Center (NCC) Room of Malang City Hall expressed similar things.

"We also continue to improve the digital literacy movement in various sectors, so that working or carrying out other activities is more effective and efficient," he explained.

He added, whoever does not follow the development or progress of technology, will be left behind and will be eroded by the progress of the times. "Current information technology provides many conveniences for humans, but it should be used in positive things," said Sutiaji.

According to the Mayor of Malang, what is no less important is that the advancement of information technology will also help boost economic growth. "Various creative businesses and MSMEs currently do not need to be confused anymore in promoting. Therefore, we continue to boost this digital literacy," concluded the number one person in the Malang City Government. (say/yon)
