Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – Various efforts have been made by the Malang City Government to help meet the needs of residents, especially those who are classified as underprivileged. This time, the Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji, launched a movement of one thousand (gerbu) rupiah per day at the Kidul Dalem Village Office, Klojen District, Tuesday (25/5/2021).

In this program, later in every RT and RW administrator in 57 sub-districts in Malang City, there will be a kind of charity box and residents can voluntarily fill it. Or there could also be volunteers who will go around the village on certain days.
Mayor Sutiaji, after launching this program, gave appreciation to the ranks of Kidul Dalem Village who had initiated the movement. With this gerbu program, it will help resolve and help residents' problems, such as for medical treatment, education costs, home renovation and business capital. "The funds will later be managed by Baznas Malang City, and through soft loans or assistance, residents can make good use of it," he said.
Furthermore, the bespectacled man said that the number of households or heads of families in Malang City is around 400 thousand and if multiplied by Rp1.000, then every day Rp400 million will be collected. With togetherness and a sense of caring for each other, Sutiaji is optimistic that he can help residents with various problems. He also gave an example of assistance to a kindergarten teacher who some time ago became a victim of online loan fraud and was finally helped by Baznas.
Meanwhile, Head of the Social Welfare Section of Malang City Government, Drs. Achmad Mabrur said, later the RT and RW heads will collect the collected funds at any time to the local village office. Then the village heads will submit it to the management of Baznas Malang City as the manager and distributor of funds. Or there could also be officers who come to the village office.
"The results of this thousand movement program will be distributed to residents in need in the form of interest-free soft loans and business capital assistance," he added.
Thus, Mabrur explained, this program will help ease the burden on residents, especially the underprivileged during the current Covid-19 pandemic where economic conditions are very volatile. "In addition, it is also so that residents are not trapped by offers of loans from irresponsible individuals and/or institutions which will ultimately be detrimental and disturbing," he explained.
From this noble movement, Mabrur also hopes to foster awareness and the habit of giving alms among residents, which will also bring great benefits to fellow human beings and those who give alms. Meanwhile, from an economic perspective, residents who want to establish a small-scale business or home business, said Mabrur, can apply for a loan according to their needs with easy requirements.
Such programs are continuously encouraged by the Malang City Government so that the community's economy continues to grow, especially from the micro business sector or MSME actors. So that even in the midst of a pandemic, the community remains productive and helps each other. (say/ram)
