Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – The Environmental Service (DLH) of Malang City never tires of conveying an invitation to love the environment to the community. Among other things, by inviting the community to create healthier and fresher air conditions in Malang City.
Head of the Malang City Environmental Agency, Drs. Wahyu Setianto, MM revealed that for the commemoration of World Environment Day on June 5, 2021, there was no mass mobilization to voice the environmental movement. This was done because we are currently still in the Covid-19 pandemic, so it is very risky to carry out activities involving large numbers of people.
"We only appeal and invite the public to love the environment more. Let's make the air in Malang City healthy again," explained Wahyu, Wednesday (3/6/2021).
The movement to love the environment and make the air healthy, said Wahyu, can start from small things, such as wanting to manage and solve the problem of waste starting from home. If every family in Malang City is aware and wants to solve waste from households, of course it will greatly reduce the waste that must be handled at the final disposal site (TPA).
If managed properly, sorted, then waste can bring benefits. Where organic waste can be managed into fertilizer and inorganic waste can be recycled. With good handling and awareness from the community in managing waste, it will certainly help environmental health.
Because DLH does not only handle waste problems. But more broadly including green open spaces. For that, increasing public awareness of a healthy environment is a shared homework.
"The awareness of the Malang City community towards the environment is actually currently good, but it must continue to be improved," said Wahyu.
Wahyu hopes that the incident of people throwing garbage near the Pasar Gadang Bridge is an example that should not be repeated. Because if it is not handled properly, the impact will also harm the community itself more widely. (cah/ram)
