Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – Representatives of the art community in Malang City came to Malang City Hall, Friday (10/6/2021). They brought a long banner that read 'Supporting the Construction of the Malang City Art Market' and stretched it in the front yard of Malang City Hall. Uniquely, they also displayed a diorama in front of the Public Relations Office of the Malang City Regional Secretariat.
Rising Community Representative Malang Kucecwara, Eko Jeep expressed his presence with the artists to conduct an audience with the Malang City Government regarding the certainty of the construction of an art and performance market in the Madyopuro Terminal area.
"Earlier we were met by the Head of the Malang City Tourism, Culture and Sports Office, Mrs. Ida Ayu Wahyuni. We conveyed all our wishes for an art market to be built immediately at the Madyopuro Terminal," explained Eko.
Eko added that if the existence of an art market at Madyopuro Terminal could be realized, it would be great to be able to provide space for Malang City artists to be creative. Because Madyopuro Terminal is very strategic to display the face of Malang City art which is close to the Malang-Pandaan toll road.
"We hope that the art market at Madyopuro Terminal can really be realized. If that can happen, it will certainly be very good for reviving the art world in Malang City," he said.
Not only art is alive, but the economy of the surrounding community will also be helped. For example, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) of Malang City located around the Madyopuro Terminal.
Meanwhile, artist Suasmoro admitted that currently there are very few places in Malang City for artists to actualize themselves. If the art market at Madyopuro Terminal can be realized, it will certainly be very happy.
"Because we don't have a place to do our activities, we are forced to busk. If in the future there is a representative place, it would be very good for us to use it," said Suasmoro. (cah/ram)
