Malang (malangkota.go.id) – Not only inviting people to pray every time they perform prayers, Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) residents in Malang City, Malang Regency, and Batu City (Malang Raya) also invite people to donate to Palestinians who are still colonized by Israel. As seen on Tuesday (15/6/2021), the administrators of NU branches and branches from Malang Raya gathered at the round building of the Islamic University of Malang.
Titled 'Malang Raya Prays for Palestine,' they prayed and raised donations. The Head of the East Java Nahdlatul Ulama Regional Management, KH Marzuki Mustamar, who attended the event, said that his party was concerned and tried as much as possible to ease the burden of the Palestinian people. In addition to being fellow Muslims, this concern is also in the name of humanity. So that Nahdlatul Ulama residents feel obliged and moved to help.
The Malang Raya Forkopimda who were present also donated, until Tuesday afternoon at least Rp500 million had been collected. "The results of this donation will be managed and collected at the Nahdlatul Ulama Zakat, Infak, Alms Institution (LAZIZNU) and the East Java Nahdlatul Ulama Regional Management (PWNU) before being handed over to the Palestinian embassy," explained KH Marzuki.
Not only for Muslims or NU circles, the general public is also welcome to donate. "A movement like this is a real step from Muslims, especially NU. Palestinians are also our brothers and sisters who must be defended and/or their burdens lightened. Let us always pray in every breath we take and donate according to our ability," said the elderly cleric.
A similar statement was delivered by the Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji who also said that the real steps were very positive and must be sustainable so that the results achieved are also more optimal. According to the bespectacled man, this method is more elegant and his party appealed not to take to the streets or hold actions that trigger anarchism.
"Let's unite and help each other to help our brothers and sisters in Palestine. Although we may not be able to donate our wealth or part of our sustenance, at least we can donate prayers. Prayers will also be very useful, because Allah SWT, God willing, will accept all our prayers," added the number one person in the Malang City Government.
He further said that what can be done now should be done immediately rather than not at all. Because, because to come directly to Palestine the possibility is very small. So while you can pray, then pray and if you want to donate then channel it to a legitimate or official institution.
