Malang (malangkota.go.id) – The rampant investment fraud and online loans that are detrimental to the community, the Malang Financial Services Authority (OJK) is trying to suppress and prevent the occurrence of such unwanted things. Together with the Malang City Government and a number of student alliances on Saturday (19/06/2021), OJK went down to the community to provide an understanding of how to invest safely and not get caught up in online loan offers.
Head of OJK Malang, Sugiarto Kasmuri said, before investing and making loans, residents must recognize the institution whether it has an official permit from authorized institutions such as OJK and the local government licensing office. In addition, he said, whether the benefits offered are also reasonable.
"With this increase in financial literacy, it is hoped that people will be more vigilant and not get caught up in tempting investment offers and fast loans with easy terms. Meanwhile, regarding the many people who have been victims of all of this, it is still a phenomenon," added Sugiarto.
He added that there are people who do not understand and there are people who understand. However, because of sudden needs or being cornered, they finally choose a shortcut. Regarding this matter, until now, the Malang OJK from the seven districts/cities that are its working area has received public complaints every month between 10 and 15.
Furthermore, Sugiarto said, of course this is the focus of OJK and of course OJK cannot be alone in overcoming various existing problems. The existence of an investment alert task force of law enforcement officers will be very helpful.
"Coordination in law enforcement, cooperation with related parties and we also continue to continuously through the investment alert task force, both in the regions and at the center, socialize and educate the public to be aware of illegal online loans," he continued.
Given that investment fraud and loan offers that disturb the public are still rampant, Sugiarto said, the OJK together with local governments, investment alert task forces and related parties will continue to intensify supervision. For official financial institutions that are proven to have committed violations, according to him, strict action will be taken according to applicable regulations.
