The statement was delivered by the Deputy Mayor of Malang, Ir. H. Sofyan Edi Jarwoko while attending the Financial Literacy Seminar with the East Java Regional Leadership Council (DPW) Young Generation Mathlaul Anwar at the Robusta Cafe, Jalan MT Haryono, Saturday (19/6/2021). The bespectacled man added that the public should be vigilant and self-aware in responding to these various developments.
As is currently rampant, namely the offer of investment and online loans that are tempting, because the terms and benefits promised are very fantastic. According to the man who is often called Bung Edi, if the high consumption of society triggers the ease of society to use all means or choose a way that seems easy. Shortcuts have finally become the choice of society to meet their needs by taking advantage of these various offers.
"The emergence of digital applications in the financial sector that are not balanced with adequate levels of financial literacy will trigger various problems in society. Therefore, the Malang City Government together with the OJK will continue to socialize this to the public in order to continue to suppress and even prevent fraud or traps through online loans, one of which is," explained Bung Edi.
Furthermore, the friendly man advised that every individual must continue to update their literacy, knowledge and follow the development of information technology. No less important, people must also be wiser in using social media and not swallow information raw. Financial literacy will be one of the strong fortresses to ward off various possibilities of someone being caught in fraud.
Because online offers that are disturbing the public are still rampant, Bung Edi explained, the Malang City Government will help and assist the public with various programs. One of them is that the Malang City Government has an OJIR or Ojo Percoyo Karo Rentenir program that can be used by the public if they need a loan. In addition to being interest-free, the loans served by Perumda Tugu Artha Sejahtera also have fairly easy requirements.
In addition, Bung Edi explained that the Malang City Government also facilitates the marketing of products from micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), even to the point of helping with their business permits. So that these micro business actors remain productive in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic like today.
"In order not to be tempted by online loans that end up strangling, every citizen must also be wise in shopping or meeting their needs and should be guided by a priority scale.
