Facing Covid-19, Tholabie Manager Islamic Boarding School Actively Cultivates Organic Vegetables

Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – Looking for solutions to strengthen the immunity of students and residents around the Pesantren, the Tholabie Manager continues to promote organic vegetable cultivation. This time it was carried out together with the Kodim 0833 Malang City to carry out a mass movement to plant vegetables, Sunday (27/6/2021).

Activities at the Tholabie Manager's Islamic Boarding School

Commander of Kodim 0833 Lieutenant Colonel Arm Ferdian Primadona, SE., M.Tr (Han) said that his party strongly supports the cultivation of organic vegetables for food security. This activity is very good for creating public health in the midst of the current Covid-19 pandemic.

"Facing Covid-19, the body's immune system requires good nutritional intake. Organic vegetables are very good for strengthening the body's immune system," explained Ferdian.

Organic vegetables are also easy to cultivate, including in narrow land around the house that is limited. Simply by utilizing plastic polybags, people can plant and harvest organic vegetables.

"We strongly support this activity. Therefore, coaching will continue to be carried out," said Ferdian.

The caretaker of the Tholabie Manager Islamic Boarding School, Ustaz Nuril Ashuri, said that the activity of planting organic vegetables has been carried out since a year ago. Currently, it continues to be developed, including by inviting local residents to actively plant.

"This is part of our efforts to teach students how to build food sovereignty and food health from the smallest environment," said Nuril.

Because we are currently still in a pandemic situation, this activity deliberately only involved students of the Tholabie Manager Islamic Boarding School. This was done to avoid large crowds of residents. In this way, it is hoped that activities can still run well and health protocols can still be carried out.

Ustaz Nuril said that in addition to being good for health, organic vegetables also have a high selling price. For that reason, this activity continues to be developed including by inviting local residents. "If usually residents plant turmeric for only one year, they can harvest it at a price of Rp1.000,00 per kilogram. For organic vegetables, one polybag alone can cost Rp7.500,00," said Nuril.

In fact, to produce Rp7.500,00 per polybag, it only takes 21 days for organic vegetables to be harvested. This profit is clearly very tempting. Therefore, Islamic boarding schools continue to educate students and local residents about planting good organic vegetables.

Also attending the event were Kedungkandang Sub-district Head Drs. Prayitno, M.Si and related regional apparatus. (cah/ram)
