Mayor Sutiaji Appreciates Vaccination for Residents Behind Bars

Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – Malang City Police continue to intensify the realization of the mass vaccination program. This time, Monday (28/6/2021) the target is 20 out of 100 prisoners who meet medical requirements and are prioritized for newly admitted prisoners. The type of vaccine in the first stage that was injected in the Sanika Satyawada building of Malang City Police is the Sinovac vaccine.

Malang City Police Chief, AKBP Budi Hermanto said that this vaccination is one of the real steps of accelerating mass vaccination among the internal ranks of the police. From this step, in addition to continuing to form a larger group immunity, especially in Malang City, it is also to suppress the spread of Covid-19.

Vaccination in this initial stage, explained AKBP Budi Hermanto, who is familiarly called Buher, is prioritized for newly admitted prisoners because they are included in the group of citizens who are vulnerable to exposure to the Covid-19 virus. Of the 100 prisoners, it is possible that some people will have their vaccination schedules postponed due to various considerations. Such as for the elderly, those with underlying diseases and those under 18 years of age.

"Why we are carrying out this vaccination is because they are people whose freedom has been taken away and are placed in one place, namely the police detention cell," he explained.

In order for the mass vaccination program to produce optimal results, continued Kapolresta Buher, the Malang City Police will continue to coordinate with the local correctional institution. Because of the passage of time, it is possible that some of the prisoners will be transferred to correctional institutions when their legal verdicts are issued and will serve their sentences.

The breakthrough made by the Malang City Police has also received appreciation from the Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji. According to him, even though they are in detention, they also have the right to get vaccinated. So that it will help suppress the spread of Covid-19.

"Together with the TNI-Polri and a number of related parties, we from the Malang City Government or more specifically through the Health Service will continue to intensify mass vaccination. However, we also appeal that even though residents have been vaccinated, they should still implement strict health protocols," continued the number one person in the Malang City Government.
