Malang (malangkota.go.id) – As public servants, regional governments, which include district heads/mayors and the DPRD, must carry out state duties, such as providing educational facilities and infrastructure.

This was conveyed by the Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji after the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of SMPN 28 Malang on Jalan Sadewo Polehan, Blimbing District, Wednesday (30/6/2021). This step, according to him, is not only to improve the quality of education in Malang City but also to improve the human development index (HDI).
Related to this, the current Human Development Index of Malang City is 81 percent while the national index is 74 percent. Malang City is in second place in East Java Province after Surabaya which is currently around 82 percent. "We continue to strive for this Human Development Index to continue to increase so that it can be number one in East Java Province and even nationally," added Sutiaji.
The bespectacled man added, to realize all that, one of the efforts is to increase the per capita income of the community. "However, we continue to boost the quality and standard of education. Like this year there are at least three high schools that will be built and/or repaired. I have coordinated with the Head of the East Java Provincial Education Office for that," continued Sutiaji.
However, he said, his party will continue to conduct studies and priority scales related to this matter. So that school facilities and infrastructure are truly effective. Coordination is also carried out in connection with a number of problems experienced by private high schools/vocational schools, including those related to the acceptance of new students whose interest is minimal and even cannot be accepted.
Furthermore, the number one person in the Malang City Government said that education is one of his priority programs because it is a strong foundation for the nation's future generations. "Don't let school-age children not be able to get a good and proper education. Networking with the ranks of the Malang City DPRD and the education office, in the future we will further optimize the availability of educational facilities and infrastructure," explained Suitaji.
On the other hand, the Head of the Malang City Education and Culture Office (Disdikbud), Suwarjana, SE., MM confirmed the statement of the Mayor of Malang. His party is also committed to fulfilling what the community needs in the world of education. "Like the construction of schools this time, which is also a community need here," he concluded. (say/ram)
