Malang (malangkota.go.id) – Although 38 regencies/cities in East Java are no longer areas that have entered level 4 of PPKM implementation, the handling and control of Covid-19 cases continues to be intensified. In this regard, the central government through the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) launched a mobile mask movement for the community at the Malang Regency hall, Saturday (11/9/2021).
This time, 500 thousand masks were distributed to the public as an effort to suppress and control Covid-19 cases and as a form of government concern for the community. At the launch of this program, the Head of BNPB Lt. Gen. TNI Ganip Warsito, TNI Commander Marshal TNI Hadi Tjahjanto, National Police Chief General Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo and East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa symbolically dispatched dozens of cars that would distribute masks.
At this moment, the TNI Commander reminded the importance of discipline in wearing masks and implementing health protocols. The reason is, although the current Covid-19 cases in several areas including East Java are starting to decline, the public should not be careless. Commander Hadi added, the pandemic is not over yet so everyone must work together so that this pandemic is under control and even ends soon.
"The results of the Ministry of Health's assessment show that almost all districts/cities in East Java are experiencing a good trend, namely a decrease in level from 4 to 3,2 and even 1. For that, I would like to remind you once again that the Covid-19 pandemic is not over yet. Therefore, we must maintain health protocols by wearing masks," he added.
If we wear a mask, he said, it means we care about protecting the people around us, including protecting ourselves. "By wearing a mask, we pay respect to health workers who have treated people exposed to Covid-19 without knowing the time," said the Malang-born man.
Meanwhile, the Chief of Police said that all activities in order to maintain health protocols, especially wearing masks as the most effective shield to prevent transmission, can really be carried out in addition to vaccination which is an effort to increase community immunity. "So we congratulate and my message to the entire community is to continue to comply with health protocols, such as by continuing to wear masks," appealed Chief of Police Listyo.
Positive appreciation was also conveyed by the Governor of East Java, Khofifah Indar Parawansa. According to her, although vaccination continues to be encouraged and herd immunity continues to be formed. However, strict implementation of health protocols including discipline in using masks must still be implemented.
A similar statement was made by Malang Deputy Mayor Ir. H. Sofyan Edi Jarwoko. According to the bespectacled man, this program is very positive and will continue to suppress Covid-19 cases, especially in Malang Raya. "We will certainly fully support it, so that all levels of society comply with the implementation of health protocols," he said.
"Until now, Covid-19 cases in Malang City have continued to decline drastically, patients occupying integrated isolation places, referral hospitals and death cases continue to decline. However, we must not slacken in implementing health protocols, so that the downward trend continues to be maintained properly," concluded the man who is familiarly called Bung Edi. (say/yon)
