Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – KAI Daop 8 Surabaya ensures that all train services (KA) operated, both long-distance trains and local trains, all customers have received at least the first dose of Covid-19 vaccination. This policy is implemented in accordance with the issuance of the Circular Letter of the Ministry of Transportation Number 69 of 2021.

"With the implementation of the vaccine requirement, the STRP, assignment letter, or other certificate requirements are no longer a requirement for local train customers," said Public Relations Manager of PT KAI Daop 8 Surabaya Luqman Arif, Tuesday (14/9/2021).
On local train services managed by KAI, this requirement will only be enforced starting Tuesday, September 14, 2021. Proof of Covid-19 vaccination will be checked by officers via the boarding officer's computer screen before boarding the train.
Vaccination data will automatically appear on the boarding officer's computer screen, because KAI has integrated the PeduliLindungi application with the boarding system and requires prospective customers to include their Population Identification Number (NIK) when purchasing or ordering local train tickets.
"If the data does not appear on the officer's computer screen, the inspection will be carried out manually by showing the prospective customer's vaccine card," explained Luqman.
The minimum vaccination requirement for the first dose is also a requirement for long-distance train travel. The difference is, long-distance train passengers must also show a certificate of negative RT-PCR test results a maximum of 2x24 hours or a rapid antigen test a maximum of 1x24 hours before the scheduled departure.
Luqman added, in general, customers under the age of 12 are still not allowed to travel by train. "KAI consistently implements strict health protocols in accordance with government policies and only allows customers who meet the requirements to board the train. Thus, it is hoped that all train services can continue to be relied on by the public during the Covid-19 pandemic," concluded Luqman. (say/ram)
