Malang (malangkota.go.id) – Malang Mayor Drs. H. Sutiaji was a resource person in a webinar entitled 'Vaccination as an Effort for Herd Immunity Towards Normal Life' at the Ngalam Command Center (NCC) Malang City Hall, Thursday (14/10/2021). In addition to commemorating the 76th Anniversary of the TNI, this webinar was held as a form of communication, coordination, collaboration between the Malang City Government, Forkopimda, and the media in educating the public.

There are various factors that are challenges in dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic, including the fact that a cure for Covid-19 has not been found, obstacles in detecting SARS-Cov-2, administering vaccines, SARS-Cov-2 mutations, and the attitudes of the community itself.
According to Mayor Sutiaji, when talking about vaccines and vaccinations, all ranks starting from the TNI, Polri, and health workers have an extraordinary role in building cooperation, including providing literacy to the public about health protocols.
"In fact, how can we collaborate the participation of all components of the nation. So the vaccine is not top down, but the awareness of each individual," said Sutiaji.
The state is present to provide assurance to all Indonesian citizens to be protected, including in the handling of Covid-19. Meanwhile, the achievement of vaccination in Malang City, dose 1 is currently 90,86%. Dose 2 has reached 61,15%, so that Malang City ranks third in East Java Province in the implementation of vaccination.
"I am sure we can, as long as the public is literate about Covid-19. Hospitals, health workers are the last bastion, the front line is actually the community. I am confident that Indonesia can. Our weakness is blaming each other, such as hoaxes, distrust of the government and vice versa. In addition, when people are not orderly and disciplined, Covid-19 will not end," explained Sutiaji.
Sutiaji said that the Malang City Government's efforts related to vaccination, one of which is continuing to move by targeting RT and RW through 16 health centers in Malang City. The goal and hope is that all Malang residents have been vaccinated with doses 1 and 2. If 100% of Malang City residents have been vaccinated, it is hoped that face-to-face schools by implementing health protocols up to universities can be implemented like elementary, middle, and high schools.
"This will have an impact on increasing the economy. Related to economic growth efforts, for all Malang City agencies there is a requirement of 40% using MSME products. So that the financial movement can be felt by the community," he added. (eka/ram)
