Malang (malangkota.go.id) – Commemorating the 43rd Anniversary of the Young Generation of the Communication Forum for the Sons and Daughters of Retired Military and Police (GM FKKPI), the Deputy Mayor of Malang, Ir. H. Sofyan Edi Jarwoko, who is also one of the mentors of the organization, planted 20 trees at SMPN 3 Malang City, Friday (15/10/2021).

Malang Deputy Mayor Bung Edi, nicknamed Sofyan Edi Jarwoko, said that this event is a real manifestation and concern of the organization he fosters for the world of education. The name of the organization must be like this, meaning it can be useful for other parties. "By continuing to intensify this greening, the air quality will improve and to maintain the natural ecosystem," added Bung Edi.
Furthermore, Bung Edi said, now is the right time to plant anything because sometimes it rains. Likewise with this pule tree which is easy to grow in any weather. "We hope that this planting culture can be emulated by students in this school later in the family environment. So that Malang City remains green," he continued.
Until now, Bung Edi explained, there have been at least 5.530 pule trees registered and he has supervised their planting. This number will continue to grow and various elements of society will be involved, such as environmental activists, youth organizations, religious figures and others.
"If this planting movement is carried out massively, then what we plant will have a positive impact on our children and grandchildren in the future. If the condition of our ecosystem is good, then it will automatically prevent or minimize natural disasters such as floods and landslides," explained Bung Edi.
In addition to spearheading the planting of pule trees, 400 masks were also handed over to the school. The bespectacled man also invited all elements of the school to continue to implement strict health protocols. So that the Covid-19 pandemic will soon subside and even end, and life will return to normal. (say/ram)
