Malang, MC – Malang Mayor Drs. H. Sutiaji appreciated the Journalism and Public Relations Training activities held by the Nusadaily Group, Sunday, (24/10/2021). In his remarks, Sutiaji said that this activity would increase professionalism and maintain the accuracy of information conveyed to the public.

Mayor Sutiaji added that based on Law Number 14 of 2008 concerning Public Information Disclosure, the public has the right to receive information. "So now the government is required to provide information to the public, such as legal products, political policy processes, budget transparency and so on," explained Sutiaji.
So, he continued, this journalistic and public relations training activity is very necessary, especially now that we have entered the online-based digital era which demands acceleration and sophistication. However, the information or news presented must meet the journalistic code of ethics, for example regarding clarification on news sources before being published.
"In Malang City in particular, I invite you to think upwards, not in the 4.0 era but in the 5.0 era. Through this activity or learning, it is hoped that our society will be educated and able to read literately. So that they are able to provide education and assessment of the government. Because our society is now literate," said Sutiaji.
According to him, from one news source can lead to many things, depending on which side and dimension the news should take. News will be led anywhere but it depends on the writer. Through this training, how to present good news and how it is needed by a professional writer.
"I appreciate and express my gratitude. God willing, the materials presented will be our strength. Hopefully, this activity can add professionalism in reporting both the Communication and Information Department, Public Relations Division and the media. Second, our mitigation of hoax news, third, maintaining the accuracy of information provided to the public," he added.
The training activity was attended by representatives of the Public Relations Division, Communication and Information Service, and journalists from several districts/cities in East Java. While the speakers were Agus Sudibyo (Chairman of the Inter-Institutional and International Relations Commission of the Press Council), Sapto Anggoro (ex-Founder of Tirto.id and Founding Member of PANDI), and Yusron Aminullah (Editor-in-Chief of Nusadaily.com).
