Malang (malangkota.go.id) – The Malang City Government (Pemkot) through the Public Works, Spatial Planning, Housing and Settlement Areas Agency (PUPRPKP) began repairing the road in Pasar Gadang, Monday (25/10/21). A number of heavy equipment and officers have been seen going back and forth since morning, handling damaged points along the road corridor which is quite strategic for movement in the Pasar Gadang area.
Malang Mayor Drs. H. Sutiaji revealed that road repairs are part of efforts to improve convenience for road users, including traders and buyers at Pasar Gadang. "Gradually we continue to strengthen the people's market, while of course waiting for the legality for the physical revitalization of the market. Our intention is to continue moving towards the goal of prosperity," said Sutiaji.
Meanwhile, Head of the Malang City PUPRPKP Service Ir. Diah Ayu Kusumadewi, MT explained that, for now, the repair process is short-term with a focus on patching damage to the 155-meter long and 7-meter wide road section. Funding is allocated through the Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD) for incidental road maintenance activities in the 2021 budget year.
In recent times, the road conditions in Pasar Gadang have indeed required immediate handling for the comfort and safety of drivers, especially ahead of the rainy season. The plan is for this repair to be rushed within 1-2 days so that it can immediately provide benefits to road users.
"For long-term improvements, the Malang City PUPRPKP Service will follow up in accordance with the programs and activities that have been prepared in the regional apparatus work plan," said Diah Ayu Kusumadewi.
Regarding the anticipation of traffic congestion due to the physical work process, the friendly woman who is familiarly called Diah said that her party has coordinated with the Malang City Transportation Agency (Dishub). From monitoring since this morning, several officers have been present at the location to help regulate vehicle movement. So that traffic around the work location is relatively smooth.
"We apologize if there is any inconvenience during the paving process, God willing we will complete it as soon as possible," he concluded. (ndu/ram)
