Mr. Edi Conveys the Importance of Utilizing New Renewable Energy

Malang, MC – Deputy Mayor of Malang Ir. H. Sofyan Edi Jarwoko appreciated the socialization event of the National Energy Council (DEN) work program held at the Savana Hotel, Friday (29/10/2021). The bespectacled man said that this event would be a reinforcement and provide a positive contribution of thought for the progress of development in the field of energy resources.

Deputy Mayor of Malang, Ir H Sofyan Edi Jarwoko gave an explanation of the importance of utilizing renewable energy at the National Energy Council's work program socialization event.

He added that energy is a basic human need. The use of energy cannot be separated from various activities of people's lives. Energy is also very necessary in running Indonesian economic activities, both for consumption needs and for production activities in various economic sectors.

"In fact, the Indonesian economy is projected to continue to grow and become one of the top 5 economic powers in the world by 2045," added Bung Edi, Sofyan Edi Jarwoko's nickname.

Indonesia will experience its peak in the golden year. Along with that, the need for energy to drive Indonesia's economic activities will also increase. The role of energy is very important for increasing economic activities and national resilience. So that energy management which includes provision, utilization, and management must be implemented in a fair, sustainable, rational, optimal, and integrated manner.

"In the utilization of energy, for consumption and production needs, fuel oil/fossil energy is one of the non-renewable energy sources that has been the mainstay to meet energy needs in all sectors of activity," said Bung Edi.

He further said, an undeniable fact, on the one hand the fossil energy reserves are dwindling and naturally decreasing. While on the other hand energy consumption continues to increase, which of course this condition is a threat to the development of the Indonesian economy.

"Ensuring energy availability and affordable prices in the long term while still paying attention to the environment is a condition that must be built in energy security. Energy security and the stability of energy supply now and in the future are non-negotiable," he explained.

Therefore, he said, the use of efficient energy use, energy saving or energy conservation, accompanied by intensive search for new fossil energy sources, and the development of alternative renewable energy are efforts that we must encourage together. Such as prioritizing the use of energy from geothermal, hydropower, wind power, solar power, wave power, battery power (fuel cells), and biofuel. By using alternative energy, it is hoped that the environment will be safer and future energy needs can be met.

Bung Edi said that the government also hopes that all elements of society can actively participate in the development of new and renewable energy, and get used to using energy economically and efficiently. All of this aims to ensure the availability of energy, build energy resilience, and obtain stable energy supplies now and in the future.

"With these steps, of course we are helping to prepare a strong Indonesian economy. So that it can lead us to the peak of the golden years later, towards Indonesia becoming a beacon of the world," he concluded. (say/ram)
