Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – Malang Mayor Drs. H. Sutiaji inaugurated the Temu Bhakti Mosque of SMPN 1 Malang City, Wednesday (27/10/2021). This mosque was founded by alumni who have spread throughout the archipelago.

Mayor Sutiaji greatly appreciates what the alumni of SMPN 1 Malang City have done to participate in making real contributions to advancing the school. This activity is very good for educating the nation's children. "The role of alumni of SMPN 1 Malang City is extraordinary in advancing the school. Hopefully this will inspire many," explained Sutiaji.
The existence of this representative mosque, said Sutiaji, can help students in developing their potential. Hopefully the existence of the Temu Bhakti Mosque can bring more benefits.
The Head of the 2019 Alumni Reunion of SMPN 1 Malang City, Prof. Dr. Tries Edy W, MM said the initial idea for the construction of the Temu Bhakti Mosque was during the school reunion in 2018. At that time, while at school, he saw children queuing to pray because the mosque's capacity could only accommodate 50 students, even though there were around 1 students at SMPN 750 Malang City.
"From that fact, the alumni then had the idea to build a mosque at SMPN 1 Malang City so that it could be more representative," said Tries Edy W.
Finally, fundraising was carried out and the construction of the mosque began in November 2019. Now, after two years and 10 months have passed, the Temu Bhakti Mosque can finally be built and inaugurated directly by the Mayor of Malang.
"Alhamdulillah, even though it was a bit delayed due to the pandemic, it took less than three years for the Temu Bhakti Mosque to be built," said Edy.
Edy added, currently the Temu Bhakti mosque can accommodate as many as 400 worshipers. Much more than the previous capacity. Through this activity, it is hoped that it can further instill a love for the school that has given the best for the students it educates. (cah/ram)
