East Java Police Support Psychological Recovery of Orphans Affected by Covid-19

Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – Providing psychosocial support to orphans, orphans, and orphans affected by Covid-19 and people with disabilities continues to be provided by various parties. This time, the East Java Regional Police provided direct support at Brawijaya University (UB), Tuesday (2/11/2021).

East Java Police Chief Inspector General Nico Afinta said that the activity in Malang City was a form of providing psychosocial support to 70 orphans, half-brothers, and half-brothers affected by Covid-19 and people with disabilities. The activity, which was attended by participants from various regions in Malang Raya, was also given basic food packages.

"This activity is an effort to provide mental strength to children so that they do not lose interest in activities," explained Nico.

By helping to overcome sadness without protracting, it can also build good communication without any obstacles. The 70 children consist of 24 children, 34 teenagers, and 12 people with disabilities. "They get assistance from the East Java Regional Police's team of psychologists and human resources (HR) bureau," said Nico.

Activities such as those in Malang City were carried out simultaneously throughout Indonesia, and were attended virtually by the TNI Commander, the Chief of Police, the Minister of Social Affairs, and also the Minister of Women and Children's Empowerment.

"The purpose of this event is that we, both from the government, TNI/Polri and educational institutions and the entire community, pay attention to children affected by Covid-19," explained Nico.

Where Covid-19 has caused children to lose their parents, even both died. "So we work together with BPJS and each child gets a BPJS Health card. So that he can get treatment at any hospital in East Java, especially in all Bhayangkara hospitals. This also applies to colleagues from the TNI. Because I am sure, the Commander of the Military Command is also holding the same activity. Of course, the Mayor of Malang and other regional heads too," said the East Java Police Chief after attending the activity.

Also present at this event were the Mayor of Malang Drs. H. Sutiaji, UB Chancellor Prof. Dr. Ir. Nuhfil Hanani, AR., MS, and the Forkopimda of Malang City. (cah/ram)
