Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – Malang Mayor Drs. H. Sutiaji became the keynote speaker at the 2021 Financial Inclusion Month Awarding at Senyum World Hotel Convention Hall, Tuesday (2/11/2021). He invited Malang City residents to strengthen financial literacy.

Mayor Sutiaji revealed that due to low financial literacy, many people are still victims of various frauds. Including what happened to a resident who committed suicide because he was caught in an illegal online loan (pinjol).
"It is a joint task of the Malang City Government (Pemkot), Bantu City, and Malang Regency to improve financial literacy. It is not just the banking task," explained Sutiaji.
Good financial literacy, he said, is very important as an effort to be able to prosper the community and avoid various fraudulent practices. Moreover, currently financial literacy in the community is still very low.
"The inclusion has reached 90 percent. Meanwhile, financial literacy is still at 38 percent. This must be improved again," Sutiaji emphasized.
With the current conditions that are still in the Covid-19 pandemic, this is done with strict health protocols. In addition, activities are also carried out in a hybrid manner, namely virtual and offline.
Meanwhile, Head of OJK Malang City Sugiarto Kasmuri said, the pentahelix synergy carried out by OJK continues to be improved. Including with three regional heads in Malang Raya to jointly support the financial services industry.
"The financial services industry is one, we always synergize. However, this synergy cannot be done without support from various parties. Including in this case the ranks of the Malang City Government, Batu City Government, and Malang Regency Government," said Kasmuri Sugiarto.
Also present at the event were the Mayor of Malang Drs. H. Sutiaji, the Mayor of Batu Dewanti Rumpoko, and the Regent of Malang HM Sanusi. (cah/ram)
