Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – To ensure that flood-affected locations in Malang City can be handled properly, the Malang City Government (Pemkot) took swift action. Among them, the Deputy Mayor of Malang, Ir. H. Sofyan Edi Jarwoko, conducted a direct inspection at Penanggungan Village, Friday (5/11/2021).

Bung Edi, Sofyan Edi Jarwoko's nickname, gave support to residents and gave encouragement to the task force. Through this activity, it is hoped that post-flood handling can be carried out quickly and residents will be more prepared if there is a follow-up flood at any time.
The flood-affected areas in Penanggungan Village include RT 02, RT 03, and RW 05. Post-flood handling was assisted by the task force and various community elements working together to clean up.
Resident of RT 02 RW 5 Kelurahan Penanggungan M Arif, said he did not expect that there would be a flood in his residence, because the rain in Malang City was not too heavy. However, when he heard from his friend that there was a flash flood in Batu City, he began to worry about his residence.

"When I found out about the flood, I immediately rushed to find a higher location. Alhamdulillah, even though the water entered the house, we are all still healthy," explained Arif.
Before the flood, Arif said, the Malang City Government (Pemkot) together with the community had made various efforts. One of them was carrying out the Garbage and Sediment Transport Movement (GASS). However, because the flood came from Batu City, Malang City also felt the impact. (cah/ram)
