Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – Together with the Scouts, the Malang City Government (Pemkot) carried out the Garbage and Sediment Transport Movement (GASS) in Bakalan Krajan Village, Sunday (7/11/2021). In addition, the GASS event was also attended by various elements, including the TNI/Polri and the community.
Starting at 08.00 WIB, this joint movement by all elements of society ended with the distribution of basic food packages at 10.00 WIB.
Sukun Sub-district Head I Ketut Widi E. Wirawan, S. Sos., MM said that the event which started at 08.00 WIB was a joint effort to maintain the environment so that it is well maintained, and free from flooding and diseases that usually appear in the rainy season.
"This activity was enthusiastically welcomed by the community. This is a good capital to create a clean environment so that the community is healthy in Bakalan Krajan," explained Widi.
In addition to cleaning up trash in the river, he said, other activities were also carried out. Among them, distributing basic necessities, spraying with Scouts, planting trees, and campaigning to obey health protocols by distributing masks.
"Thanks to the solidarity of the community elements, we are grateful that this activity can run smoothly. Hopefully, the environment in Bakalan Krajan which has been well maintained can continue to be maintained," said Widi.
This event is also an educational event for all people to protect the environment. Because with such high rainfall, if not balanced with maintaining a good environment, it can result in environmental damage and flooding.
"Not only floods, in the rainy season like this other dangers also usually appear such as dengue fever, landslides, and also colds," explained Widi. (cah/ram)
