Starfruit (malangkota.go.id) – Malang Mayor Drs. H. Sutiaji appreciated Bank Indonesia's (BI) efforts to strengthen digitalization of payments through the Quick Response Code Indonesia Standard (QRIS) in order to support tourism. This was conveyed at a national seminar held by BI in a hybrid manner at the Grand Mercure Hotel, Tuesday (16/11/2021).
Mayor Sutiaji said that through QRIS entering the tourism world, it will greatly help economic growth. Be it economic growth in the Arema area or economic growth in Indonesia. "The BI Malang Hati event which raises the theme of using QRIS to support optimism for the recovery of the tourism sector is very inspiring," explained Sutiaji.
Sutiaji said that the seminar was very motivating for the movement and economic growth in the BI Malang area, especially Malang City. The existence of QRIS will be a real effort to find solutions that have existed so far, including in the tourism sector.
"I also said that, Covid-19 is actually Allah's guidance for all of us, there is a compulsion from God Almighty that we must enter the digitalization era," he said.
In this current era, it is very effective in suppressing physical transactions. Through QRIS, transactions do not need to be physically touched. "Today we are invited in order to provide solutions and innovations. In the future, we will increase our scientific knowledge to advance the Indonesian economy," said Sutiaji.
