Mayor Sutiaji Becomes Speaker at Economic Outlook 2022

Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – Malang Mayor Drs. H. Sutiaji was a speaker at the Economic Outlook 2022 event held by Berita Satu, Monday (22/11/2021). Sutiaji spoke about Creative Economy, MSMEs and Tourism as the Foundation for the Economic Revival of Malang City Post-Pandemic.

In his presentation, Mayor Sutiaji conveyed the vision of Malang City with Dignity in accordance with Regional Regulation Number 1 of 2019 concerning the Regional Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMD) 2018-2023.

"The Human Development Index (HDI) of Malang City continued to increase in 2020 and is still the second highest in East Java, namely 81,45 percent," said Sutiaji, which was broadcast live on the Berita Satu Youtube portal.

Malang City's inflation in October 2021 was only 0,19 percent. Meanwhile, the realization of local revenue (PAD) as of September 2021 was more than 60 percent of the target set. The poverty rate in 2020 was the second lowest in East Java, namely Malang City at 4,44 percent and East Java at 11,09 percent.

"Economic growth in 2020 did not contract as deeply as the initial estimate, namely Malang City -2,26 percent and East Java -2,39 percent. The information and communication, education services, health, real estate and finance and insurance sectors continued to grow," he continued.

The Covid-19 pandemic, he said, did not dampen Malang City's steps towards becoming a digital creative city. Infrastructure, ecosystem and marketing stimulus are the focus. Malang Creative Center (MCC) is the realization of the commitment to creative economic infrastructure.

"Hundreds of productive activities are held to develop the creative ecosystem, including the Mbosi Festival, startup development, and so on," added Sutiaji.

Strengthening standardization, destinations and collaboration of Malang Raya to revive tourism and its supporting services. Malang City Government will improve the facilitation of cleanliness, health, safety, and environmental sustainability. In addition, the development of destinations and events such as thematic villages, heritage villages, culinary tourism, educational and innovation tourism, thematic park tourism, and festivals.

"Malang City Government also has three focuses on MSME revival stimulus, namely funding, mentoring, and marketing. Hexahelix collaboration offers a way out of various pandemic challenges, including the quality of MSME products, HR capacity, network expansion, and alternative financing," he said.

Funding innovation, he said, there is the OJIR or Ojo Percoyo Karo Rentenir program. This program is a financing credit without collateral and without interest for productive community businesses, the winner of the 2020 TPAKD Award in the category of Financial Inclusion Innovation at the Regency/City Level. As for mentoring MSMEs on board the digital era with e-Commerce.
